Andrea Asili, Ada Dispa, Lenneke van der Goot, Rosemin Hendriks and Jans Muskee
‘Kilroy was here’ is an exhibition of drawings. But what strikes you most when you enter the space are not the drawings but the five small wooden cubicles with closed doors. These doors give access to the artist's drawn universe. Step into the cubicle and close the door behind you, and you find yourself in the middle of the artist's drawn world. A world full of thoughts, ideas, images, portraits and so on. You cannot help but view the drawings from very close up. Pencil lines, charcoal strokes, the artist's hand can be observed everywhere at close range. This forced and imposed way of looking may be somewhat uncomfortable. At the same time, you see things that you would not have been able to discover otherwise, simply by walking past a drawing. This exhibition is about the dialogue between the viewer and the drawing. Perhaps you will look differently and perhaps you will see more. When you step out of the cubicle into the large space, you will also see the artist's work hanging there. Often larger and sometimes a continuation of what you saw in the cubicle. The five artists in this exhibition are draughtsmen. They all have a certain obsession with what they create. Drawing and obsession are what connect them. What they draw, the subjects they choose, the techniques they use are completely different. You can experience it for yourself: step into the world of Andrea Asili, Ada Dispa, Lenneke van der Goot, Rosemin Hendriks and Jans Muskee.
