We have selected four young artists who graduated this year from ArtEZ and HKU.
Among them are Yinzk and Arno Westerberg.

Four young artists, who graduated this year, are exhibiting their work. Two artists from the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) and two artists from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. Whether this exhibition is truly their ‘Maidentrip’ remains to be seen. All four have already presented themselves with verve in the group shows, the final exhibitions at both academies. The final exhibitions are an exciting litmus test for these young artists. Will they be noticed? Might they be picked up by a gallery? Or are there collectors who will purchase a work from them straight away? When you are ‘noticed’ and picked up by a gallery or collector, that is wonderful. The appreciation and compliments they receive are, of course, an incentive. But the downside is that the pressure is immediately on your shoulders; for them, there is no shelter or shade. Some might actually be better off if they were not ‘noticed’. They can continue to develop and grow in their artistry in peace.
Nevertheless, the DE.GROEN Collection is also giving these four artists the opportunity to step into the limelight with their work. Four solo presentations. .

Yinzk (BEAR, ArtEZ)

Yinzk werkt met muziek, performance en video. De presentatie van het werk van Yinzk tijdens de finals bij ArtEZ was in alle bescheidenheid indrukwekkend. Yinzk had een kleine ruimte ter beschikking. Sober ingericht met een beeldscherm, een goede geluidsinstallatie en een groot zitkussen. De presentatie van Yinzk draaide om een (muziek) album Mother Universe en een (daarbij behorende) film I Am A Portal, So Are You. Dit is ook de titel van het boek dat Yinzk in kleine oplage presenteerde tijdens de finals. Yinzk doet een pleidooi voor het herdefiniëren en herbeleven van liefde, vertrouwen, gemeenschap en zachtheid. Samenwerkingen met andere kunstenaars en ontwerpers zijn een belangrijk en inhoudelijk onderdeel van het werk van Yinzk.
Arno Westerberg (HKU) is een echte schilder. Tijdens de presentatie op de HKU vielen zijn schilderijen op door de eigenheid die het werk uitstraalt. Tegelijkertijd heeft het schilderkundige in zijn werk de uitstraling alsof de schilderijen al decennialang bestaan. Dit is geen diskwalificatie maar juist een compliment. Dat schilderkundige zit in de kwaststreken, de krijtachtige matheid die enkele van zijn doeken hebben maar ook in de composities. Soms neigt een doek sterk naar abstractie. Op een ander schilderij is bijna een cartoon. Abstract of herkenbaar, de schilderijen van Westerberg blijven altijd in een soort ongrijpbaarheid hangen. Dat is de verdienste van de schilder. Op de vraag wat zijn ambitie is, antwoordt Westerberg in het Engels: “My goal is to paint for the rest of my life.” De directe eerlijkheid en argeloosheid van zijn antwoord is iets dat je terugziet in zijn schilderijen

How do you get there
The Showdepot has two entrances.
If you are coming on foot, by bike or by public transport, please use the entrance at Nieuwe Havenweg 31.
If you are coming by car, please park at Cleantech Park Arnhem and use the entrance at Westervoortsedijk 73.
However, you are free to choose which entrance to use.
Cycle
Approximately 12 minutes from Arnhem Centraal station (OV-fiets).
Use the entrance at Nieuwe Havenweg 31.
Public transport
From Arnhem Centraal station, take bus route 12 or 43 to the Haven stop (approx. 10 minutes).
From there, it is a 9-minute walk to the entrance at Nieuwe Havenweg 31.
Car

Parking is available at Cleantech Park Arnhem. When you purchase a ticket, you will receive, in addition to your admission ticket, a QR code that allows you to drive straight through the Cleantech Park barrier. There is no need to check in with the gatekeeper. Charging points for electric cars are also available on site.
