SHOW 16. Sonsbeek 20>24
begane grond en kluis
02.07 — 29.08
2021

We are proud partners of Sonsbeek 20>24 and eagerly await the exhibition that will be on display at our location.

The ground floor will feature work by Omer Wasim, Ndidi Dike and Libita Sibungu, while the vault will showcase work by Laure Prouvost. Anne Duk Hee Jordan is constructing an installation in the rear courtyard.

The concept that Bonaventure Ndikung and his team of co-curators, consisting of Antonia Alampi, Amal Alhaag, Aude Mgba, Vincent van Velsen and Zippora Elders, have been working on has been given the title Force Times Distance – On Labour and its Sonic Ecologies. Using the themes of labour and the sonic (sound, music, oral history), Ndikung aims to connect fact and fiction about Arnhem and the region with stories from around the world. With a selection of national and international artists, thinkers and, of course, the public, meaning is given to local and global shifts in the fields of politics, economics and technology. By taking a critical look at the past and listening to alternative histories and aspects of gender, identity, race and diaspora, sonsbeek20→24 and the artists involved explore models for the society of the future. The 12th edition of sonsbeek20→24 – initially planned for summer 2020 – will take place from the beginning of June and continue well into the summer of 2021. We are also delighted to welcome two new partners: the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. With these new partners, sonsbeek20→24 is not only expanding northwards, via the Hoge Veluwe National Park to the Kröller-Müller Museum, but also establishing a lasting connection with the rest of the Netherlands.

With these new collaborations, sonsbeek20→24 is building a new format that extends both in time and space. The focus of the exhibition has traditionally (since 1949) been in Park Sonsbeek in Arnhem. In 2021, Museum Arnhem will be visible at various locations and work will also be shown in the 15th-century Eusebius Church, at the private De Groen Collection and at the Rozet cultural centre. The art route runs from Park Sonsbeek via Park Zypendaal to Buitenplaats Koningsweg, where a collaboration will be entered into with Machinery of Me and Atelier Freiraum. Via the Hoge Veluwe National Park, the route ends at the Kröller-Müller Museum, where three monumental works will be installed in the sculpture garden, among other things.

We are proud to present the work of Hester Oerlemans in a solo exhibition. Of course, we hope to see you again at Collectie DE.GROEN after the lockdown, within the limits of what is possible.
